SFC Energy AG is a leading provider of hydrogen and direct methanol fuel cells for stationary and mobile hybrid power solutions.
For military applications, SFC Energy offers a variety of highly durable fuel cells to meet the specific requirements needed for military, security forces and security / public applications. Tested according to MIL-STD, the fuel cells perform in the harshest conditions delivering 100% reliable power.
On vehicles, supplying power to sensors, radios, optical surveillance, and other systems require a running engine or a noisy generator. This can lead to early detection in the field. The SFC Energy EMILY 3000 direct methanol fuel cell charges the on-board batteries automatically, quietly and without being detected. The direct methanol fuel cells guarantee operation of equipment even when the engine is turned off. The SFC Energy EMILY 3000 can charge modern lithium ion and lithium polymer batteries, as well as the conventional lead acid / AGM batteries. The SFC EMILY 3000 is characterised by virtually signature-free, silent and emission-free operation, therefore making it the modern task forces’ number one choice. Away from the vehicle, it is also suitable as a mobile field-based charging station for batteries.
The JENNY 1200 is SFC Energy latest portable direct methanol fuel cell. Efficient, compact and lightweight. JENNY 1200 charges your batteries without any user interaction. The SFC Energy JENNY 1200 communicates and interoperates with your batteries, no matter where you are. JENNY 1200 powers all your equipment whether carried or left unmanned to operate alone.
Together with the SFC Power Manager 3G, several consumers can be supplied with power very efficiently at the same time. The advantages of the systems are a significant reduction in the number of batteries soldiers need to carry (with more than 75 % weight reduction for a mission with a duration of 96 hours), a barely detectable noise and heat signature, and almost maintenance-free operation.
The portable direct methanol fuel cell system SFC Energy JENNY 600S only weighs about 1.7 kg and is therefore easy to carry in a backpack. The system provides 600Wh of electrical energy per day. Three to four 350 ml fuel cartridges contain enough capacity for 72 hours of deployment. This means up to 80 per cent of battery weight can be saved. Therefore, soldiers can equip themselves with the minimum number of batteries and instead carry additional food, water and ammunition, having saved the weight or alternatively extend the duration of the mission.
The SFC Energy Power Manager 3G enables the soldier to use all energy sources available in the field such as hybrid batteries, solar panels, vehicle power and direct methanol fuel cells to power devices or charge batteries. Thanks to intelligent cable coding, the SFC Power Manager 3G automatically detects the connected devices and adjusts the output voltage correspondingly. This results in very low power losses and an extremely efficient power distribution.
SFC fuel cells are operated as direct methanol fuel cells. The methanol is stored in SFC fuel cartridges that have been designed especially for this purpose. Depending on requirements, SFC fuel cartridges are available in different 0.35, 2.5, 5, 10, 28 and 60 litre capacities. If your autonomy needs are higher, up to four fuel cartridges can be connected to one fuel cell using the DuoCartSwitch. High-purity clean methanol is needed to reliably operate the SFC fuel cells. Only when original SFC fuel cartridges are used, can the maximum operating life of the direct methanol fuel cell be guaranteed. SFC fuel cartridges offer a lot of energy in the smallest space thanks to the high energy density of methanol. As a result, the autonomy of your off-grid applications can be increased many times.
